Yesterday was one of those days where I just didn’t feel like working out. But really, I had no excuse not to. Yes, I had plenty of things that needed to be done for work, for Christmas (still have shopping to get done!), plus things around the house to do (there always is…), but it’s important to MAKE time for working out.
No one has time to workout–you have to make time to workout.
So anyway, as I was debating about going to the gym last night, all I really felt like doing was taking some time out of the busy day to catch up on this week’s Ellen episodes that were calling to me from the DVR bank.
I bargained with myself–if I was going to take the time to watch tv, I was going to workout while doing it. So I did! And I’m actually really sore from it this morning.
This is the workout that I did last night:
Complete each set FIVE times through, no breaks at all, except for when fast-forwarding through the commercials ;)
- 20 Jumps (sans rope) + 10 Push-ups
- 20 Jumping Jacks + 20 Standing Crunches
- 20 Jumping Lunges + 30-second Plank
- 30-second Wall Sit + 15 (per side) Standing Side Crunches
- 10 Burpees + 50 Punches while in a squat
- 20 In-and-Outs + 25 Jumping Jacks
- 15 Locus Lifts + 20 High Knees
- 15 Air Squats + 20 High Knees
- 15 Crunches + 20 (per side) Donkey Kicks
- 30-second Forearm Plank + 30 Jumps
The point I wanted to make with this post is that you don’t have to go spend an hour running at on the treadmill to get in a workout. Do some jumping jacks during commercial breaks, squats while you’re switching the laundry, crunches while you’re playing with your baby on the living room floor, run up and down your stairs 10 times while dinner is in the oven, etc.
All of that little stuff really adds up in the end.
Just move more!
You’ll never regret a workout.

Hi Danica! I jus received the Attune Foods Cereal coupons- thank you so much again! Have a great day:)
Oh good, hope you enjoy them! :)
I work from home full time and keep a few sets of dumbells in my home office. When I have some down time I’ll do some light arm work, or some squats and whatnot. I also try to get out for a walk with my dog on my ‘lunch break’. Other than that I also workout while watching TV :) Yesterday (during work) I actually had enough time to do the “wedding arm workout’ you have listed on your page, and it was great! Thanks!!
Yes, every little bit adds up!
And it’s great to hear that you liked that workout :)
Great post girl! My FAV at home workout right now is Pilates! I do some of the POPilates from Blogilates and feel great!
xxoo
Thanks Kris! I actually just recently checked out Blogilates and she has a lot of great workouts!
I couldn’t agree more with that mantra – “You’ll never regret a workout.” It’s actually one of my favorites and is what I remind myself of when I’m just not feelin’ it. I love how you compromised with yourself and still got in a great workout! Awesome job!
This is a great workout Danica! I love at home workouts and I think my favorite would have to be anything Tabata. I can always throw in a DVD too…:)
I completely agree about making time for a workout. I am not married nor have any children, but that doesn’t mean I have all the time in the world to fit one it. :)
Yes, same here — work and keeping up with all things life takes up a lot of time! :)
Hi Danica! Just discovered your blog, and of course the first post I read has an at-home, in front of the TV work out I know I need to try :) PERFECT! I always lose motivation if there’s a TV show I want to watch, so this is a great solution.
Hey Molly! Thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know if you try out the workout, it’s always fun to hear feedback on the workouts I post :)
