my thoughts

  • Honestly – this is the absolute best healthy living book I’ve read to date.

  • I love this book so much because it covers not only exercise and nutrition, but also mental and environmental conditions that are essential factors in overall/optimal health, too.
  • I agree with every philosophy Jillian has about healthy living (which is very rare because a lot of healthy living book authors get very extreme and preachy about one “right” way or another).
  • She promotes balance!  The McDonald’s meal and the Cheetos are always off limits (rightly so!), but she knows that we’re all human and sometimes enjoying life really can mean having the slice of pizza, the alcoholic beverage, or the piece of cake at the birthday party.  She gets that.  BUT, she explains that it’s important to keep those “treats” in the minority, and she explains what that looks like further in the book…. I agree!
  • This woman doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk, and that’s why I love her healthy living advice so much.  She’s not about just preaching and selling books, she truly knows what she’s talking about because she lives it out herself and applies it to all of the people she’s helped.
  • I could ramble on for a long time about how much I love this book, but I’ll end here with this: If you’re going to read one healthy living book right now, make this the one you read.  It covers pretty much everything you need to know, especially if you’re just getting started on a journey to better health.

    • You should definitely read it! If you know ome things about living a healthy lifestyle, which you do, a little of it will be already-known knowledge, but it still has a lot of great things to offer!

  3. Thanks for the recommendation. I love all-things Jillian. I have Master Your Metabolism, but only made it about half way through. It’s quite detailed and really interesting, but I just got kind of overwhelmed. I’d definitely like to pick this one up someday.

  4. Glad to see your review! I am a Jillian fan and was wondering whether this was worth a read or not. I tried her detox water recipe recently and though it didn’t really work out for me I did like some aspects of it. May give this book a try! Thanks.

    • I love Jillian and I’ve read one or two of her other books, but this one blows them out of the water. It’s much more reader-friendly and realistic.

  6. I brought myself this book and have to say I loved it. Was such a good read and gave me a lot to think about. I liked the score aspect as well as it made me reread it and think of changes which I could do with a little effort instead of simple ones which would be easy to make. I agree is deffo a must read.

    • I thought the score part was pretty neat too! And yes, I LOVED that she pointed out lots of little changes to make because they really all add up in the end!

  7. So funny, I started to read this the day before you did this post! So far I really enjoy it! I literally laughed outloud when she was talking about not eating twinkies and cheetos becuase there is no twinkie tree, and nothing ever gave birth to a cheeto :)
