nasty cough. chest pain. wheezing. sore neck, sides, and back. headache. tired.
yep, I’m sick.
We’re back at school today and let me tell you, it’s really difficult to be a fun/excited-to-learn teacher when all you want to do is lay down and sleep.
I took a rest day from working out on Sunday (I planned it that way because I knew we would be doing some traveling), but earlier in the week I could tell my body was needing more rest. I really didn’t “listen” to it, and in retrospect, I’m pretty sure I pushed too hard with my workouts. Ugh. Sometimes I just get a little too caught up in the mileage and time spent in the gym that I forget the importance of rest days…I know it all has to do with that struggle of feeling like enough.
Yesterday, after being practically out of breath just from walking up the stairs, I knew it needed to be another rest day, especially since my chest/lungs hurt so badly. In the evening, my legs were getting restless though so I decided to do some yoga. After 25 minutes, my lungs felt like they were going to explode so I called it quits. Thank goodness I didn’t try to hit the gym like my mind wanted me to.
This morning I did go to the gym and walked for 50 minutes. And that was tough.
Bleh. Sorry that this is so whiny with way too much complaining. I shouldn’t blame myself for getting sick, but this definitely reminded me to keep a full day of rest in my workout schedule. It’s important for physical and mental health.
I just wanted to stop in and share what’s going on…I’m probably going to take the rest of the week off from blogging because I have a lot going on with work and need to rest so that this cold/sickness thing goes away asap.
Take good care of yourselves … I hope you’re all having a wonderful week!
