September Smoothie Challenge

I can’t believe the last weekend of the summer is (nearly) here already.  Where does the time go?!

At least the weather still feels like summer (in my neck of the woods anyway).  The heat still has me craving cool foods, especially salads and smoothies.

Beginning this Sunday, September 1st, I’m participating in Heather‘s September Smoothie Challenge.

It’s pretty self-explanatory – for the first half of the month, you eat/drink one smoothie each day!

It’s an easy and delicious way to incorporate more fruits and veggies into your diet.

As Heather pointed out,

Some health benefits of smoothies / green smoothies include: 
Energy Booster
Clearer Skin 
Improves Digestion 
Improves Mood
Boosts immune system 

I’m honestly planning to do this for the entire month, just because I think it’ll be fun and make me feel great.

Remember that you don’t need a fancy shmancy high-tech blender to make a smoothie – you can get by just fine with a cheap Wal-Mart blender!  (aka the beast that’s in our kitchen – it does the job!)

This sounds awesome, especially since I’m a smoothie fan already. Can’t wait to check it out! I love smoothies with PB and banana in them!

Me too! Banana is in almost all of the smoothies I make – peanut butter is like the icing on the cake :)

haha they’re definitely worth a purchase, and you really don’t have to have a fancy one to make good smoothies! I would keep your eyes open at even Wal-Mart or Target for when they go on sale next.

I always say I need to try smoothies but I am SO lazy when it comes to clean the blender/food processor. This would be the perfect opportunity to give it a go, though. GAH, I hate being lazy! :-P

I will never make a smoothie without Spinach…ever! And if you haven’t tried peanut flour in a smoothie, you must get some and try it ASAP!

Yayyy!!! Thanks so much Danica! I’m super excited for the challenge to start and good for you for wanting to stay with the challenge for the entire month! Personally I make a smoothie almost daily, but I didn’t think most would want to do the challenge the entire month so that’s why I limited it to only 14 days!

You can do it though, I have faith in you! I truly enjoy having smoothies and it helps with my sweet tooth sometimes as well.

I’m in for the challenge! I just started adding green smoothies a couple of weeks ago. (I was scared to try them them for so long!) I love the energy boost in the late afternoon. Thanks for letting us know about it.
