computer problems…

Hey guys, I wanted to just pop in while I have a few minutes to borrow Jesse’s computer…

My laptop is having some major issues – earlier this week it I could only use it for about 20 minutes at a time before it would completely freeze up, and now it won’t even turn on :(  It’s annoying.

I know it’s just a computer, but not having mine to use really makes me realize just how much I rely on it!

I’m currently behind in school work, blogging, emails, and blog reading, and it’s a little overwhelming to realize just how much I have to catch up on once it’s up and running again.

My husband and I got on the phone with Apple Support last night and spent maybe an hour of trying a few things.  At one point, the very patient (and helpful) Apple Support woman said the words, “Oh. Well *that’s* NOT a good sign.”  great…

Most likely my hard drive is fried, which means that I have to take it to the nearest Apple store to have it fixed, and that’s about an hour and a half away.  Hopefully Jesse and I can make a quick(?) trip there this Sunday, but we’ll see.  I really do need my computer.  Thankfully, Apple should replace it for free, I just won’t have anything left (files, bookmarks, etc.) on my computer once the hard drive is replaced.

Thank goodness I backed up my computer last week!!  Except for my pictures, those are most likely going to be lost :(

But anyway, I’m really hope I’ll be back to blogging SOON.

Oh that’s the worst! I’m assuming if you say it’s free you’re covered by Apple Care? We had a scare like that once and they ended up not having to replace the hard drive, but we bought a G Drive on the spot and started backing up from that point on! It’s scary to think you might lose stuff!

Hopefully you can get it sorted sooner rather than later!

Unfortunately it wasn’t covered, BUT, it was a fairly cheap fix and I’m so thankful for that! Glad to be back – a slow computer that continues to not work correctly gets pretty frustrating after a (short) while :)

Computer problems can be SO frustrating. You are right…we never realize how much we depend on them until they aren’t working properly. I hope it gets fixed soon!

Aww! Not good.. My brother is a computer pro, and he said it could be the motherboard, too. I think that’s better than the hardrive, but not sure. Hope it’s figured out soon!

We thought it was the hard drive too, but it ended up being the hard drive cable. That got replaced and then I had to buy the discs to reinstall the operating system. It wasn’t free, but it was *much* cheaper than expected AND all of my files saved. Yay! :)

We ended up doing a little shopping there, too! :) I love that mall…even though we didn’t get much, it’s just so fun to look around. I definitely got some chocolate from Godiva while we were there – that chocolate is amazing.

My husband owns a computer repair store here in Iowa and has those kind of problems alot. Almost everyone thinks that once a computer dies and things they didn’t get backed up will for sure disappear. He can honestly get everything including those pictures back. If apple doesn’t do it for you I’m from Minneapolis and would happily offer his services!!!
Don’t give up or let apple tell you different. Although they usually are very great with customer service. When we live in Roseville I dropped my brand new ipod and brought it to the apple store in the mall there and they gave me a new one right there no questions asked!!
Good luck and don’t hesitate to email!!!
P.S I love your blog just never comment because I have a 3 year old to entertain at the same time as reading blogs usually!!

Thanks so much for your offer, Leianna! Fortunately, Apple does have awesome customer service, like you said, so they took care of fixing it for me. It took a little longer than expected but I didn’t lose anything and the repair bill was *much* cheaper than I’d anticipated :)

Ah, I’m so sorry to hear this! Computer problems (well, okay and vehicle problems) are the worst! I always forget how nice it is to have things that work until they break down! Hope everything got worked out!

It finally got fixed tonight! I’m so thankful to have it back…and yes, vehicle problems are very close to as frustrating, if not more so – we’ve experienced both recently so hopefully we’ll be good for a while! :)
