WIAW #29: Raspberry Banana Smoothie Recipe!

breakfast part 1


Before heading to the wellness center I had some *strawberries and *cherries.

Workout part 1

6:35a.m. – 7:35a.m.

At the gym I first warmed up with 15 minutes of elliptical intervals, then completed this lower body workout (highly recommended–my hamstrings and bum are still sore today!),

and before calling it a day morning I cooled down with 10 minutes on the stationary bike.

I first threw together the ingredients for a blueberry muffin based off of Katie’s fantastic recipe, and while that was baking in the oven I made a smoothie.

Raspberry Banana Smoothie


  • 1 large handful of *spinach
  • 1 teaspoon ground *flaxseed
  • 1/2 cup frozen *raspberries
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup OJ (I used the Trader Joe’s brand)


  • Put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until the drink is smoothie.
  • Enjoy!

After breakfast I went for a short 25-minute walk around the neighborhood–the weather was just to beautiful to avoid!



Baby *carrots and some edamame (seasoned with a little sea salt) were my sides of choice to the seriously delicious roasted wrap I made.  Into the toaster oven went a multigrain Flatout wrap smeared with roasted garlic hummus and topped with *romaine lettuce, deli turkey slices from TJ’s, *spinach, *tomato slices, and *mozzarella cheese.  so so good.

When my stomach growled in the afternoon I was, for whatever reason, craving a bowl of oats, so that’s what I made!  I mixed together 1/3 cup oats with 2/3 cup water, microwaved that, and then added cinnamon, *raisins, and some PB2.

These two taco *shells were filled with *ground beef (mixed with chopped onion, canola oil, diced *tomatoes, and seasoning), *romaine lettuce, *mozzarella cheese, and *salsa.  I’m not exaggerating when I say these were the best tacos I’ve ever eaten.  I did good work here.

We had a softball game, which I played all of one inning of…I wasn’t feel too hot and we had an extra girl so I chose to sit for the majority of the game.



On our way home from softball J and I both agreed that ice cream sounded amazing.
There’s this local shop that is known for their homemade ice cream (we’ve heard about it, but since we’re so new to the town we haven’t tried it yet), but I was sure they wouldn’t have anything dairy-free.
My wonderful husband decided to call the shop and ask if they had anything dairy-free, and his response to their answer was “We’ll be right over!” :)

this discovery could seriously be trouble! in the best way possible, of course.


Favorite smoothie ingredient?

bananas always add a lot of flavor, but strawberries and raspberries rarely miss out on one my smoothies (same with spinach, but you can’t even taste that :) 

Favorite flavor of ice cream or sorbet?

back when I could eat real ice cream any flavor with peanut butter and/or nuts was always my favorite…can someone make that into a dairy free ice cream please?
